Northvault

A marketing site for an institutional custody firm that reads like a private bank, not a crypto exchange.

The concept

Custody providers sell to risk committees, but most of their websites are written for retail traders: neon gradients, token tickers and promises of speed. Northvault is a concept for the opposite. It borrows the restraint of private banking, a serif voice, a quiet palette and plain statements, and keeps the technical depth one click away for the people who check it.

The concept covers a homepage and a security page, both coded as working prototypes. The approval-policy demo and the coverage table are real interactions, built to answer the two questions an operations lead asks first.

Northvault is a fictional brand created for this concept. Any product details shown are illustrative.

  • One serif headline, one action. The ledger beside it is illustrative data, labelled as such.
  • The approval quorum demo turns the most abstract claim on the page into something a visitor can operate.

Interactive prototype: a working, coded build of the concept

Homepage

The positioning, the platform in three parts, an approval-policy demo, network coverage and a briefing request.

  • One serif headline, one action. The ledger beside it is illustrative data, labelled as such.
  • The approval quorum demo turns the most abstract claim on the page into something a visitor can operate.

Mobile

Design rationale

Why it looks and works this way.

  • Speak to the risk committee

The buyer is an institution, so the voice is a private bank's: a serif display face, ivory on near-black, one brass accent and no market tickers.

  • Show the controls, don't describe them

Approval quorums are the product. Letting a visitor switch from 2-of-3 to 3-of-5 and watch the approvers change explains it faster than a paragraph.

  • Depth on demand

The homepage stays short. Security detail lives on its own page in expanding layers, so an engineer can verify the architecture without the CFO wading through it.

  • Numbers set like numbers

Balances and network data are set in a monospaced face with tabular figures, so columns align and nothing looks like marketing.

What the concept changes about a typical custody site

Security contentOne long wall of text, or nothingA layered page that expands only where the reader wants depth
